THE GIRL IN CABIN 13, by A.J. Rivers

Mystery/Thriller -- 2 stars

Emma Griffin FBI Mystery - Book 1

This is Emma Griffin's chance to redeem herself after a mistake on her last assignment that left her being assigned to a desk.  Feathered Nest is a small town where several people have turned up dead; it's up to Emma to find out why.  The night she arrives at cabin 13, she opens her door to find a body on her porch.  Local police seem to believe it was just a random accident, but why was the dead man holding a piece of paper with Emma's name on it? ----- Unrealistic--the FBI sends a semi-disgraced agent on a solo mission in the middle of nowhere?  Really? Then Emma falls for the town hunk in the early pages, and I knew I was in for a shallow, formulaic mystery-cum-love story. Slow pacing, surface characters, and very few surprises left me glad to turn the last page. This is the first in a sixteen book series, so maybe the books got better, but I'm not interested.
