THIRTEEN by Steve Cavanaugh

Mystery/Thriller -- 4 1/2 stars

Eddie Flynn - Book 3
Two Hollywood rising stars, one of them is dead, the other is on trial for her murder.  The evidence looks like a slam dunk for the prosecution when Eddie Flynn, former second chair, finds himself in sole charge of the defense.  Joshua Kane doesn't know the defendant or his lawyer, but he would kill to be part of this trial...literally.  ----- Steve Cavanaugh is a new writer for me, and one I'm very happy to have discovered.  Eddie Flynn is a lawyer created from the mold of the best literary attorneys--intelligent, uncompromising, determined.  The plotting is intricate, the reconstruction and destruction of evidence is clever and satisfying.  This book was well on its way to a 5 star rating until the last couple of chapters when it left the courtroom and went off the rails into an action movie ending.  It's not even a bad ending, it's just that I wanted to hear that final gavel sounding on a job well done.
