THE QUEEN OF NOTHING, by Holly Black
Fantasy -- 3 1/2 stars
The Folk of the Air Trilogy -- Book 3
Jude, the mortal Queen of Faerie, has been exiled to the mortal world, but when her twin sister needs her help, she takes the chance to go back to Elfhame. What she finds is a world where war is threatening and the faerie factions are choosing sides. Jude has her own choice: her father or her husband. ----- Not nearly as clever as book 1, but better than book 2. This is a fantasy story that is basically a tale of politics with wings and purple hair. Sometimes imaginative, sometimes not. The build up to the finale raises the tension some, but the solution to the final riddle is so obvious that the ending is anti-climactic and unsatisfying. Still, I'm glad I kept with the trilogy. You can't hate a happy ending.
