CELL 8, by Anders Roslund and Borge Hellstrom
Mystery/Thriller -- 5 stars
Ewert Grens - Book 4
John Frey is on Death Row in a southern Ohio town when he dies before his execution date. Six years later, John Schwarz, a husband and father holding a Canadian passport, is arrested in Stockholm, Sweden on a charge of aggravated assault. But when the Stockholm police check his identity with Interpol, they find his fingerprints match those of the very dead John Frey. Then things get interesting--and political. The U.S., pushed by a vindictive father and an Ohio governor who ran on supporting the death penalty, wants their prisoner back, Sweden has an agreement with the EU to not extradite prisoners to countries where the death penalty is in play. Something has to give, and it's going to get dirty. ----- The first word that comes to mind: intense. These authors have penned a story that will grab you, infuriate you, and will not let you go. The large cast of diverse and totally original characters are so real they jump from the page; the situations so unique they enthrall. I got to Part IV and gave up any thought of sleeping until I had finished every word. I closed the book at 3:00. At 4:00 I was still awake thinking about it.
