FORCE OF NATURE, by Jane Harper, narrated by Stephen Shanahan

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 stars
Audiobook Narration -- 5 stars

Book:  Five women are sent into the Australian outback for a corporate wilderness bonding experience.  Only four come back.  And each one has a different story to tell. ----- This book was divided into two alternating parts, one exposing what happened during the weekend retreat, one focusing on the investigation into the woman's disappearance.  Only one of them works.  The story of the retreat is well-paced, and the women are interesting and diverse.  The investigation is dry and boring and does very little to move the story forward.  The detectives could have been plucked from any B-novel.

Narration: The recording is in an Australian accent which helps keep the location in the forefront and adds to the flavor.  Mr. Shanahan's characters are clean and clear, the narration nicely paced.  If only he'd had better writing with which to work.
