THE BLACK ASCOT, by Charles Todd

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 stars

Inspector Ian Rutledge - Book 21
In 1910 there was a murder at the Ascot race track.  The main suspect, Alan Barrington, fled England, but he may be back, and the Inspector is determined to find him.  But is he really guilty? ----- In this addition to the Ian Rutledge series, the Inspector is forced to face his own shell shock following his service in World War I, and that does muddy the waters of Mr. Rutledge's crime solving.  A good story, just not a great one.
