THE MURDERER'S SON, by Joy Ellis

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 1/2 stars

Jackman and Evans - Book 1
A woman, living on the edge of the Lincolnshire Fens, has been murdered, and Daniel Kinder has turned himself in to local police.  He doesn't remember the murder, but he knows he did it because his mother was a murderer.  At least he believes his mother was a murderer.  Of course, he has no proof that a famous murderer was actually his mother, but...  With no evidence to tie Daniel to the woman's death, the police are forced to let him go.  Then there is another death and Daniel has disappeared. ----- A sympathetic "villain," with an interesting history that is uncovered bit by bit by detectives who are instantly comfortable characters.  Twists and turns, and a satisfying ending.  This is a new series I'll watch.
