Nicci and Nathan have been joined by another traveler, the idealistic young man, Bannon. The trio follows the witch-woman's prophecy south in search of the hidden city of Kol Adair where Nathan hopes to regain his powers. What they find instead is an army of half a million, missing for centuries, that has been turned to stone. ----- This second book reintroduces the imaginative world-creating that Terry Goodkind is known for but was strangely missing in book 1. Highly readable with surprises and new villains to overcome.
