THEY CAME WITH THE SNOW and THE MELTING, by Christopher Coleman

Horror -- 4 stars

It's a quiet, mild spring Sunday in May in this small college town--until the explosion.  Then the snow starts and "they" appear.  If you are a fan of old horror movies where some cataclysm causes an instant life form mutation, you'll love these books.  The first, They Came With the Snow, is really a short story and is complete in itself.  It has the eerie quality of Stephen King's The Mist, and, while it is a satisfying read, you won't want to miss The Melting because what 1950 horror movie fan doesn't want to know how, and why, and who, right? The Melting, at 240 pages, is longer, but both can still be read in one lazy afternoon.  True, old-fashioned horror that is silly and spooky all wrapped in one.
