HOLY GHOST, by John Sandford, narrated by Eric Conger

Mystery/Thriller -- 4 1/2 stars
Audiobook Narration -- 5 stars

Virgil Flowers - Book #11
Book:  Pinion, Minnesota, a town of 700 souls, gives a whole new meaning to "sleepy."  That is until the mayor and an affable and way too clever high school student decide to create a miracle.  Now the town is busting with money-spending tourists hoping for a glimpse of the Virgin Mary whose first "appearance" in the local church was captured on town cellphones.  But when someone starts shooting the pilgrims, it is Virgil Flowers' job to find out who and why. -----  This is my favorite John Sandford series.  Once again, he has created a unique story with interesting, flawed characters, and enough red herrings to fill the local diner.  And you can't help but love Virgil Flowers, a man possessed of a dry sense of humor and as straight an arrow as any writer ever created.

Narration:  Eric Conger has Virgil Flowers down pat with just the right amount of "aw shucks" and whip smart that makes him and the townies around him come alive.  It's like listening to a favorite uncle tell war stories.  Sit down, get comfy, and fall under the spell.
