FINAL GIRLS, by Riley Sager
Mystery/Thriller -- 3 1/2 stars
Quincy went on a vacation with friends, and was the only one to return. Lisa was the only survivor of a knife attack in her sorority house. Sam was the sole person to walk away from a motel massacre. Named the "Final Girls" by the media, the three have never met. Quincy has no recollection of what really happened during that vacation weekend, but has tried to move on and now has a fiance and a popular baking blog. Then Lisa is found dead, an apparent suicide, and Sam shows up at Quincy's door tossing Quincy's life upside down. What does she want, and why is she so determined to get Quincy to remember her "Final Girl" weekend? And what is the meaning behind the message Lisa left on Quincy's phone just before she died? I liked this story even though I never really warmed up to any of the characters. The plot is interesting with twists and turns and a surprise ending. Not great, but an entertaining psychological who, what, why, when mystery.
