Mystery/Thriller -- 3 1/2 stars
Lola Ward was 12 years old when Nicholas Todd murdered her parents and took Lola hostage. At least that's the story she tells after she escapes. Todd has a different version. Now grown up, Lola approaches a crime writer and convinces him to write her story--a story he's not sure he believes. Then Todd escapes from prison. Who is he after, Lola or the writer? A great idea, and the characters were actually pretty well drawn, but I just couldn't care about any of them. The ending was a disappointment.
