THE COMET SEEKERS, by Helen Sedgwick
Literature -- 3 1/2 stars
The place: Antarctica. The people: Roisin, the daughter of an astronomer and Francois, an older man who is away from his home for only the second time in his life. Roisin has joined the research team to observe the fracturing of a comet; Francois is in Antarctica to cook for the team. Two very different people, seeing the world in two very different ways, people who have never met but whose histories have been intertwined for centuries. Really a beautiful, delicately told story that unfortunately dragged sometimes. The ancestor stories were better defined than Roisin and Francois which made for an uneven read.
