RAZORBLADE TEARS, by S.A. Cosby

Mystery/Thriller -- 4 1/2 stars

Two fathers--one white, one black.  Two gay sons.  Neither father tried to understand, neither accepted, neither loved his son as he should.  But these two young men are dead now, murdered in the street, and the police case has stalled.  It's time for two fathers to take charge. ----- If you have trouble with extreme violence in books, pass on this one.  I lost track of the body count before I'd even reached the half-way point.  I'm not much into the gangster world or lingo, but to my untrained ear, the language, the deals, the trails through old favors owed and vendettas paid, rang true, adding a flavor that made the story live.  Fast pacing and clearly defined characters work together to create a savage world just outside the average experience. Beyond the search for justice, there are moments of discovery between two men who, with very little common ground, face their own racism and bigotry.  In the end, beyond justice, there is a lesson that it is not too late for any of us.
