A SLOW FIRE BURNING, by Paula Hawkins

Mystery/Thriller -- 4 stars

When Daniel, a graphic artist wannabe, is found murdered on his houseboat, the police focus is on Laura, a mentally unstable young woman who was seen walking away from the houseboat.  But what about Daniel's nosy neighbor who found the body?  Or Daniel's aunt who has been jealous of her nephew's existence since the death of her own son?  And is any of this connected to the recent death of Daniel's mother? The police have the evidence they believe proves their case, but they don't have the whole story. ----- Complicated plotting where every character is damaged, even the victim. The multiple viable suspects and their twisted connections are revealed slowly making this one of those peel-like-an-onion mysteries that keeps you turning pages to get to the core.
