Jamie Conklin was born with an unusual ability. Jamie can see dead people. It's not something he or his mom talk about; well, except for that one one time. But once is all it takes for Jamie to find himself forced into confronting a killer. ----- Told in Jamie's words, Mr. King's casual, flippant story style is a perfect fit for this coming of age story that manages to be both touching and terrifying and strangely real. There are only three main characters: Jamie, a kid you can't help but love; his mother, a single parent who just wants her kid to be normal; and his mother's girlfriend, wherein all the trouble lies. Fast-paced and readable, Stephen King strikes gold again while straddling a thin line between horror and thriller.
