Defense Attorney Mickey Haller has won some big cases, but this one is different. Choosing to defend himself when a body is found in the trunk of his famous Lincoln after a bogus traffic stop, this case is life or death--his own. ----- Michael Connelly's Lincoln Lawyer series is the measuring stick for all other legal thriller writers. Haller and his team are still the best at ferreting out the truth and keeping the surprises coming, though the first breakthrough here seems to come with no real work-up. The fast-paced twists and turns, the signature take-downs of prosecution attorneys are all here, even if the conclusion is softer than the usual Lincoln Lawyer landing. A worthy addition to a great series.
