SUICIDE HOUSE, by Charlie Donlea

Mystery/Thriller -- 4 stars

Rory Moore/Lane Phillips - Book 2

Westmont Preparatory High School is known for its strict rules, tough academics, and dedication to the students' mental health.  But something is wrong.  Last year, an abandoned boarding house at the edge of the campus was the location of a grizzly double murder during an initiation ceremony for the secret Man in the Mirror student club.  The local police made a quick arrest which should have been the end of it, but now the students who survived the slaughter twelve months ago are returning to the house to commit suicide.  This story isn't over. ----- Told in alternating past and present sections, the truth is exposed one piece at a time in this fast paced and tense story with multiple story lines that keep you guessing.  Lane Phillips is known for his solid work on suspect profiling.  But it is his girlfriend, Rory Moore, an expert in crime recreation who suffers from OCD and is on the autism spectrum, who makes this book really fly.  One of the most original and interesting detective characters I've come across in a long, long time.
