THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE, by V.E. Schwab

Literature -- 5 star

In 1724 France, Adeline LaRue escapes an unwanted marriage by making a Faustian bargain with a god she calls forth in the forest.  Addie is given the gift of being twenty-three forever, free to live the life she chooses.  The cost: No one will remember her.  Three hundred years later, she makes a chance visit to an obscure New York bookstore, and meets a man who remembers her name. ----- More than an adventure story covering continents and history lived, this is a story of loneliness and the human need to leave a mark on the world, no matter how small.  It is also an incredible love story of one determined and inventive woman and two men who will carry the scars of remembering.  Sad and heartwarming, fascinating and unforgettable, this may be the best book I've read all year.
