THE OTHER MRS., by Mary Kubica

Mystery/Thriller -- 5 stars

Sadie and Will Foust and their family are looking for a new start when Will's aunt passes away leaving him a house on an island off the coast of Maine.  The house comes with legal custody of a 16 year old cousin who definitely does not welcome their arrival.  The change is difficult for everyone, but then things get worse--a close neighbor is found murdered in her home, and the island's newest residents become a target of the sheriff's investigation. ----- This book has more threads than grandma's mohair sweater set, and they all run on while none of them seems ready to lead to a solution. Even when the threads finally begin to coalesce, all that comes of their joining is a Gordian knot where suspicions mount and questions multiply.  The first hint of unraveling leans to the side of a let down after all that has become before; but the final twist wipes away any misgivings with an answer so original it deserves applause.
