CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE, by Tomi Adeyemi, narratedy by Bahni Turpin

Fantasy -- 5 stars
Audiobook Narration -- 5 stars

Legacy of Orisha - Book 1
Book: In the recent past, the nation of Orisha hummed with magic.  Then the ruling king outlawed the practice, seeking to destroy any who possessed the ability.  When an ancient scroll comes to the attention of the monarchy, the reigning princess witnesses her handmaid killed for being able to ignite the scroll's magic.  Brokenhearted, she steals the scroll and escapes the capital city begging for help from Zelie, a poor fisherman's daughter with a history of powerful magic in her bloodline.  Their goal is to get the scroll to a magical island that only appears once every one hundred years and to reignite the gift of magic in Orisha. ----- A complex story of love and hate, of joy and sadness, of loyalty and treachery swirling around characters who sing in an imaginative world that begs to be real.  Plot twists and alternating relationships continue to feed the rapid pace of a story that leaves you begging for more.

Narration:  I can't remember when I enjoyed a female reader more than Ms. Turpin.  Her accent adds flavor and authenticity while keeping the many characters clearly defined and the narration interesting.  A joy.
