I SHALL WEAR MIDNIGHT, by Terry Pratchett

Fantasy -- 5 stars

Discworld #39, Tiffany Aching #4
Tiffany Aching is now the official witch of the Chalk.  She spends her days caring for the needy and protecting all her people, with the help of the Wee Free Men, of course.  But someone or something is inciting hate against her and her kind.  With a royal wedding on the docket, Tiffany has her job cut out for her if she is going to save everyone--whether they like her or not. ----- I waited a long time for this book to be available from the library.  The wait was worth it ten fold.   The Wee Free Men are back at the center of the story, and as funny as always.  Tiffany is growing up and into her witching job, and the story allows her expanding maturity its full space. All the Tiffany Aching books have a lesson hidden in them.  This time, it's that strangers are only strangers until you get to know them,  people who are different aren't odd, they're interesting, and bullies only act that way because they're frightened people will see how weak they really are.  (Lessons that could be learned by some folks in Washington.)  This book was recommended to me quite a while ago.  I'm glad I was patient and waited for it to fall into my hands.
