DOLL HOUSE, by John Hunt

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 stars

Olivia is enjoying her first night on campus when two men grab her and lock her in a nightmare.   Years later, she finds out she is not alone.  But escape doesn't mean safe. ----- This book is not for the faint of heart.  I can't ever remember the degree of violence that Mr. Hunt voices in the first third of this book.  If Mr. Hunt's point was to shock, he succeeds admirably.   I came very close to putting the book down never to finish it, which is completely anathema to my I'll-finish-this-even-if-it-is-horrible-because-I'm-afraid-I'll-miss-something attitude toward reading.  The final two-thirds of the book reads like any other female victim novel, with suspects thrown in and eliminated and an ending twist; but after the opening, it comes off as slightly flat.
