THE PERFECT NANNY, by Leila Slimani

Mystery/Thriller -- 2 stars

Miriam and her husband have two young children.  Miriam is bored and wants to go back to work.  A nanny is needed, and Louise is perfect.  She loves the children, creates imaginative games, stays late without complaint, even cleans and cooks.  She's like a member of the family.  What's not to love? ----- Despite the subject matter, there is a total absence of tension, perhaps caused by lackluster pacing, or maybe it's the fact that Miriam and her husband know something is wrong but choose to do nothing.   If they don't care, why should I?  Strangely emotionless and eventually just boring.
