THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU, by A.J. Rich

Mystery/Thriller -- 5 stars

Morgan is completing her thesis study on victim psychology.  She met her fiance, Bennett, when he was one of her interviewees.  Morgan also has a soft spot for dogs in need of rescue.  Then she comes home one day to find Bennett mauled to death and her dogs covered in blood.  But it's not until she tries to contact Bennett's parents that she finds out Bennett was not who she thought he was, and just maybe SHE was supposed to be a victim just like those in her PhD study. ----- This book grabbed me right from the beginning.  Maybe it was the rescue dogs, maybe it was Bennett's complete fabrication of himself, maybe it was Morgan's ability to question everything she thought she knew about herself and her determination to fix that.  All I know is that I couldn't put it down.  And I was definitely rooting for the dogs.
