A MEASURE OF DARKNESS, by Jonathan Kellerman and Jesse Kellerman

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 1/2 stars

Clay Edison - Book #2
An eccentric home owner, a big party, shots are fired, and the dead are counted--only the police miss one.  Clay Edison is actually a medical examiner, not a detective, but that doesn't stop him from running an investigation that is not all that popular with his higher ups.  This father/son authored book starts slowly, but does move to a satisfying speed eventually. The problem is there are too many side stories begging for more focus.  While most of them eventually worm their way into the main plot, their purpose is unfulfilling.  I didn't read the first book in the series, so I can't say if this is an on-going style, or just a one-off.  I am a fan of Jonathan Kellerman, but adding his son to the process doesn't seem to have added much to the product.
