BLACK CHALK, by Christopher J. Yates
Mystery/Thriller -- 4 1/2 stars
Six best friends, a first year at Oxford, a game of silly dares and forfeits. But the stakes keep getting higher, and silly becomes dangerous. Now it's fourteen years later, and the last two players are readying for the final round. A book of foreboding gloominess, you know from the beginning that their game idea is not going to end well. A solid, psychological twister that leaves you pitying them all while rooting for and against both end players. Original and well written.
