Mystery/Thriller -- 4 1/2 stars
A young man kills a girl in an automobile accident and is sentenced only to probation. His defense--that he was so coddled he was unable to take responsibility for his actions--makes the "Big Baby" a target for those who believe he should be locked up. Enter Cal Weaver, a private investigator who is hired by the young man's totally disfunctional family to act as body guard. When it becomes obvious that the young man sincerely remembers nothing of the event, Mr. Weaver begins to wonder if the truth is different from the public narrative. The clue to the real story is unlocked in one chance moment. A fast moving plot with no lack of unlikable characters or likely suspects.
