THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, by A. J. Finn
Mystery/Thriller -- 4 stars
Anna Fox has agoraphobia. She lives alone, except for her basement tenant, and spends her time watching her neighbors through her windows. Then she sees something she shouldn't. Anna's problem is that she also drinks and is on drugs to get her through her day, so no one will believe her. Her attempts to leave her home make you want to breath in and out with her. You can't help but share the frustration she feels, but when a big truth is revealed, you're left wondering what is real and what isn't. The comparisons with Rear Window are inevitable, and not entirely unjustified. A few nice twists and characters that can't be defined as all good or all bad add to the readability. The solution that is sympathetic and relatable and mostly satisfying.
