Mystery/Thriller - 5 stars
Renee Ballard is a good investigator stuck on the night shift after a sexual harrassment complaint. Now she just deals with the preliminary report and turns all the details over to the daytime detectives. Then she catches two disparate cases and doesn't want to let go. A strong female character is a welcome addition to Michael Connelly's lexicon, and this one has two really good stories that don't seem to fit, until they do. I like this Renee Ballard.
