Maggie Murphy, a young girl from a small Irish village, leaves behind the love of her life and boards the Titanic dreaming of a new life in America. Maggie is one of very few steerage passengers who survive the tragedy, but it is not until years later that she finally shares her story with her great-granddaughter who wonders about her heritage in Ireland. A well written, delicate balance of fact and fiction. Sentimental and satisfying.
