IN FARLEIGH FIELD, by Rhys Bowen

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 1/2 stars

The lives of Lord Westerham and his five daughters are  thrown into chaos when a brigade of British soldiers sets up camp on their property. Then the body of a failed parachutist is found.  He's wearing a British uniform, and it's assumed he was joining his brigade; but none of the encamped soldiers are missing.  Ben Cresswell is assigned to investigate, a convenient duty as he is in love with one of the daughters--the one who works at Bletchley Park as an German code breaker.  It's a story that reads like a book designed with a Masterpiece Theater dramatization in mind.  Enjoyable, but easily forgotten.
