BENEATH A SCARLET SKY, by Mark Sullivan
Historical Fiction -- 5 stars
Based on the story of a little known hero of WWII. Peno Lilla is an Italian teenager helping Jews escape over the Alps when he meets Anna. After he joins the German army in order to protect his parents, he is assigned as the driver for Hitler's right hand man in Italy where he continues his dangerous work for the underground in the hope that Anna and he can reunite when the war ends. An exciting read with lots of suspense.
