Mystery/Thriller -- 4 stars
Billy Summers is a smart man who plays stupid; a decorated Iraq war veteran, and a hit man for hire. With one last job, he can retire and stop killing. But what happens if the people who hire him would rather put a hit on Billy than pay him what they owe? ----- Stephen King may be best known for his horror stories, but it is his other works that I've always admired the most. Rest assured, Billy Summers is no Shawshank Redemption or Lean on Me, but Mr. King has created an anti-hero to remember in this novel. Seemingly without conscience, and yet a sympathetic character for whom you find yourself cheering. It is a dichotomy pulled off by a master story teller. This is a book populated by fully realized characters from both sides of the moral human spectrum in a story of revenge, love, and redemption.
