Krewe of Hunters - Book 5
Book: A woman was murdered in room 207 of the Longhorn Saloon in the 1800s by a man who believed she had a priceless diamond. In the modern Longhorn Saloon, another woman staying in the same room has gone missing. Is her disappearance connected to the deaths of several other women found dead after visiting The Alamo? And are they all connected to that long lost diamond? Texas Ranger Logan Raintree and U.S. Marshal Kelsey O'Brien are called to join a task force to solve the mystery. ----- I love a good ghost story. This isn't one of them. Kelsey, staying at the Longhorn, keeps seeing a ghostly replaying of the original murder. Logan has a working relationship with a ghost from the fall of The Alamo which comes off as not a little silly. And then there are the birds that appear occasionally though Ms. Graham never connects them to any of the murders in anyway beyond having them appear and flap their wings a lot. There is a decent twist at the end; but by then, I had pretty much lost interest. The well written backstory of the original 1800s murder seemed to foretell a good story was coming. Instead, what followed was clunky and amateurish.
Narration: Mr. Danels gives an excellent reading of bad material.
