THE HUNTED, by Wayne Barcomb, narrated by Mark Deakins

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 stars

Audiobook Narration -- 3 stars

Book: Once upon a time, a little girl sent her father to prison for killing her mother.  Eighteen years later, she lives in a city where there is a serial killer on the loose.  All the victims are men. Oh, and her father is now a free man.  So who is the hunter and who is the hunted?  A likable Detective Frank Russo is in the middle of the investigation--in more ways than he knows. ----- Mr. Barcomb tries to put the reader off the scent of the killer, but the answer is still obvious from the beginning.  What follows is an (unintentional) Columbo style mystery, where you know the answer, and can sit back to watch how the detectives figure it out.  The detectives are well written; the other characters are interesting if not completely original. An average mystery story, enjoyable in its predictability.

Narration: Mark Deakins has an energetic style that comes off as not completely natural at times.  Still, he is easy to listen to and keeps the narration moving at a good pace.
