Orphan X - Book 4

Book: President Bennett has a secret he intends to keep, even if it means killing every member of the now-defunct Orphan Project.  Evan Smoak, Orphan X, is determined to stop the President's plan, even if that means killing the President. But Evan is still responsible to his day job, and that means helping an autistic young man who has just lost his entire family.  ----- Splitting the focus over two major stories is a risky business, but Mr. Hurwitz pulls it off with ease.  His portrayal of the autistic client is handled with a gentleness that adds another layer to the Evan Smoak persona.  But it is the president story that brings the chills and the thrills, including what may be the most exciting action sequence ever penned.  A complicated scenario that leaps out at you and leaves you breathless.  After Mr. Smoak's (unsuccessful?) operation, it is even more fulfilling to see his long-term, no-hands plan for the President.  A clever ending no one could possibly see coming.

Narration:  Once again Scott Brick brings his laid back style to the Orphan X stories.  No one is better suited to bringing the imperturbable and self-possessed Evan Smoak to life than Scott Brick.
