Commisario Guido Brunetti - Book 30
Two young American women are injured in a boating accident on Venice' Laguna. Their Italian escorts leave them unconscious on the loading dock of a hospital where they are not found until hours later. One of the men works for his uncle who may be trafficking women into Venice. The other is a lawyer. Brunetti finds himself having to work outside his usual police contacts. Will the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Costiera help or hinder? ----- I have enjoyed quite a few of Brunetti's stories in his magical city. Everything from the Commisario's cosmopolitan life style, to the unfamiliar procedures followed by Venice' police officers make these mysteries special. Ms. Leon's mysteries are usually fairly complicated. This one is a bit disappointing in that it is pretty simple, moving from accident to solution in a straight and predictable line. Enjoy it for the flavor of Venice if not the plot.
