Gretel - Book 1
A mother disappears while driving home to the Back Country after visiting her ailing father. With her car disabled in a deep ditch, she becomes lost in the woods where she is befriended by an old woman who welcomes her to her cottage. This is more than a simple accident and a gift of kindness; this is a centuries old evil, and her family is in the eye of the storm. ----- There is a Gretel, a Hansel, and a witch in the woods, but this is not your mother's fairy tale. Totally original with twists I never saw coming, and a sophisticated thriller-styled plot raise this above the usual for the genre. Excellent character development that leaves room for doubts and surprises help this story to fly. This is the first in a six book series, but it is a complete story with no frustrating cliffhanger ending.
