Colter Shaw - Book 2
People tracker, Colter Shaw, is on the hunt for two young men who are suspects in a hate crime. His success brings tragic results. In an effort to find out how things could have gone so wrong, Mr. Shaw uncovers a secretive group that bills itself as a grief counseling organization, but that he believes is somehow connected to the murder of a journalist. Looking for answers, he joins what he now views as a cult with a growing body count. ----- The introduction to the cult is interesting, if a little wordy, but it does set the atmosphere for a twisty thriller that keeps the surprises coming. Colter Shaw's upbringing in a survivalist household serves him well with MacGuyver type solutions to the problems standing in his way. Mr. Shaw's character is the one that keeps this story moving while the cult leaders are pretty much standard issue. Mr. Deaver does add some characters who are less dedicated which adds a bit of relief and believeability to the story. In the end, this is an against-all-odds-the-hero-wins-the-day story, and a satisfying one.
