TUCKER'S WAY, by David Johnson
Literature -- 1 star
The Tucker Series - Book 1
Tucker is raising three grandchildren in a decrepit cabin somewhere in Tennessee. One day, she sees young, pretty Ella moving into the cabin next to hers. Tucker hates her on sight. That lasts about 3 pages, then suddenly these two women are best buddies. So totally predictable and unrealistic as to border on stupid. The two women walk back and forth between the cabins daily, Tucker can SEE the other cabin, but when one of the grandchildren moves in with Ella, suddenly they can't visit her because it's too far. It's like Mr. Johnson was trying to write Little House on the Prairie for adults and didn't know any--prairies or adults. I know this is some kind a "beloved" series, but I can't fathom why.
