TWO KINDS OF TRUTH, by Michael Connelly

Mystery/Thriller -- 3 stars

Harry Bosch Series - Book 20
Harry is working as a volunteer clearing cold cases at the San Fernando Police Department when he finds himself in the middle of a new drug related double murder.  At the same time, Harry is in court and on the defensive over evidence of an old, closed case from his days with the LAPD.  First, I love Michael Connelly.  I've read everything he has written beginning with his Lincoln Lawyer series and including every Harry Bosch book.  It's a good thing this wasn't my first.  It's not that it's bad; it's just not satisfying. There are two entirely separate stories, both "solved" too quickly without the usual investigation/slow reveal/major revelation trademark I associate with his books.  The stories never line up together and are treated like two separate books.  I have to wonder if he had two outlines that didn't quite work so he put them together and called it done.  I highly recommend starting this series at the beginning.  You won't be disappointed--'til #20.
