MURDER IN THE MANUSCRIPT ROOM, by Con Lehane

Mystery/Thriller -- 1 1/2 stars

The 42nd Street Library Mysteries - Book 2
Raymond Ambler, the crime curator at New York's 42nd Street Library becomes involved in a murder investigation when one of the library's employees is found dead in his office. There's also some drivel about Mr. Ambler and another employee who may or may not be in love, and a Middle Eastern researcher who may or may not come between them.  No one actually seems sure, including the author. The title of this book was really the best part.  I was expecting something about clues in ancient books and discoveries about long forgotten conflicts.  Instead I found a choppy, disconnected writing style, unlikable characters, and a ridiculous story.  There's a murder, and the police let the librarians interview suspects and witnesses after which the police interview the librarians to find out what they uncovered.  Stupid.  I guess Book 1 was well received, but I know I'm not interested.
