THE ORPHAN'S TALE, by Pam Jenoff

Literature -- 5 stars

Noa is 16 years old, a Jew and pregnant by a Nazi soldier.  Her family of circus performers forces her to give up her baby.  Unable to forgive them, she is living above a railway station when she discovers a box car full of babies, steals one, and disappears.  Returning home, hoping for acceptance, she finds her family gone.  In order to survive, she joins a competing circus that agrees to hide her and the child. Suspense, love, protection, betrayal, and a tear jerker ending.  A beautiful book.
