LILAC GIRLS, by Martha Hall Kelly

Historical Fiction - 5 stars

Three women: a New York socialite works in the French Consulate, a young Polish girl joins the resistance, and a young German doctor answers an ad for a government medical position.  Three stories that intertwine while Hitler rages across Europe.  The story is loosely based on three strong, real women. Well researched, and well written, it's a look at WWII from a different perspective.  Not your average Hitler-era book. All three women come alive, each distinctive and sympathetically interesting in their own way.
